Deer Valley Clinic
About Dr. Charging Thunder
Dr. Charging Thunder is a highly regarded Lakota family physician, deeply rooted in the Nebraska Panhandle where she was born and raised. Growing up as a farm worker and underprivileged, she developed a first-hand understanding of the unique challenges faced by rural communities. Motivated by rising healthcare costs and provider shortages, she established Deer Valley Clinic to ensure accessible, high-quality medical care for all.
Deer Valley Clinic serves as an affordable direct-pay option for patients who are uninsured, manage high deductibles, or struggle to find timely appointments. We offer streamlined scheduling, same-day availability, and bilingual services in both English and Spanish. While we currently offer Telehealth services, we look forward to providing in-person visits once our physical clinic space is completed. Our practice is a proud supporter of both holistic and complementary medicine.
A graduate of the RHOP program at Chadron State College, Dr. Charging Thunder earned her MD from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 2008 and completed her Family Medicine Residency at UNMC in 2011. Her extensive clinical background includes serving underserved populations in Omaha and the Nebraska Panhandle, bringing deep expertise and compassion to her practice in Gordon.

About Us
With the rising costs of healthcare and insurance premiums, as well as the shortage of healthcare providers which make access to care difficult, she decided to open Deer Valley Clinic as an affordable cash pay option for those who are uninsured, have high deductibles, are unable to get in rapidly to see a provider, find it difficult to get to town, or otherwise have difficulty acquiring care. Deer Valley Clinic offers easy scheduling, same day appointments, affordable prices, and quality care in English and Spanish. Currently, Telehealth visits are offered with home visits possible for those who have difficulty getting out of their homes; however, once the clinic space is completed, office visits will be available. Holistic and complimentary medicine practices are supported.
The name of the clinic comes from the rich Lakota history of the area. Before the area was settled and towns were established, the area was called "Deer Valley" by the Lakota. It was an expansive area where deer were always plentiful thanks to the Niobrara River and other local creeks.
