We had our first meeting on 3/07/26 and if you weren't there, you missed out on some good Indian tacos! The Cultural Enrichment Program is meant for all ages: youth to adult.

Though turn-out was low, we did have at least 6 youth so far who will be participating in the pow wow interest group. It is not too late to let us know if you would like to join us on this journey, share knowledge, or just come along for the ride and learn. If there are specific obstacles to participation such as transportation, we can arrange pick up to those interested in participating.

We plan to have a demonstration of pow wow dance styles and regalia in April so choices can be made by those participating and we can get started designing then ordering needed supplies. One dancer from each of the following categories will be presented at that time:

MEN: Traditional, Fancy, Grass

WOMEN: Traditional, Fancy shawl, Jingle dress

We did not have enough youth present to organize a youth group yet, but we are not giving up! Our goal is to provide opportunities for youth to learn about Lakota virtues and culture in a fun way, including field trips, while offering opportunities to give back to the community!

Our next meeting will be on April 11, 2026 at 4 PM at the Gordon City Auditorium. On the Agenda will be:

  • Medicine Wheel Teachings

  • The Tree of Life, the sacred cottonwood

  • Updates on pow-wow interest group and youth group
